Just like how tens of millions of people worldwide spend half their day on their phones and computers (virtually any digital device) because of tech corporations pushing for "technological progress" since 2010 (Facebook Microsoft Google expanding tech to lower developed countries for their own benefit), you are now in a state of a world where more people are disillusioned than ever. The average attention span of a teenager has reduced drastically since a decade ago, and the attention spans of young adults are following the same suit. People have forgotten that success is the result of long-term commitment, determination, and discipline, with luck sprinkled all over it. Instead, everyone now seeks to make a quick buck without working for it. Examples of this are:
Why does any of this matter?
You, just like 62% of the world, use social media, which has become the world's largest platform in terms of digital use. Tech corporations, the ones that create Instagram, Snapchat, Tiktok, etc., have curated their products with some of the most advanced algorithms for cognitive captivity that are meant to consistently keep you glued to your device, exploiting your dopamine receptors to excrete short-term pleasure in an endless loop (hence the meaning of doom-scrolling or LDARing) until you eventually feel tired out and regretful of what you've done for the last number of hours. You tell yourself that you will get back on track tomorrow, but when you wake up your refreshed brain will desire that you repeat the process again.
In addition to this, many of you readers are frequent users of this forum. The reality is that the majority of you are here to do nothing but idly stand by, wasting your time on the toilet, couch, or bed scrolling through threads and making rage-bait content for no good purpose other than to waste the precious (now useless) seconds of your life. You think you are here to improve your looks, facially or bodily, but you lack direction or action to begin in the first place, so you do as previously mentioned: nothing. Some people are committed to improving their looks, but still fall short on improving their life in general, because for many humans, looks aren't the end all be all in life.
The good thing is that many of you are kids, ranging from 13-19 years old. The bad thing is that you already have spent many years of your youth sapping your mind with degeneracy, lacking a direction or desire to accomplish something that exceeds short term pleasure, thus you are as what we call many people who suffer from alcoholism or drugs, addicted. Yet, there is still a path to the light, but it won't be easy. You need to first find a subject or topic that has a meaning beyond LDAR'ing (like Computer Science, Finance, Medicine, Hand-crafting, Math, Lifting, Running, Boxing, Hunting, Hiking, Reading... as you can see, the list goes on), and devote the time that you would spend on social media on this subject instead. I advise against you trying to do a cold-turkey; instead spend 30 minutes instead on your device on the subject, and increase that time each day. Eventually, you will find yourself spending more time improving on a skill listed above and less on doing nothing.
Stop waiting for instant results, for pleasure that lasts only 4 minutes, and pain that lasts forever. Start documenting your progress, via notes or photos, or writing in a journal. Make goals for yourself and jot them down so you can look back on your goals, instead of thinking of something in your head and then forgetting about it the day after. This doesn't mean you should plan your entire life ahead of you: no one knows where they are in the next 5 years. But what you should do is think of what you want to do today, and then tomorrow, and by the end of the week. These are reasonable goals you can set for yourself, and over time you can start planning even more long term: to a month, 6 months, by your next birthday, and into the years to come.
You can tell yourself you will start tomorrow, but tomorrow has a tomorrow as well. There is no tomorrow. When tomorrow comes, it will be today, and you will be stuck in this loop of being stuck in the mud, taking one foot out of it, and stepping right back in.
