It's easier to be motivated by sth that gives you instant satisfaction tho (e.g. videogames, food, drugs) than by things that take lots of time and effort until they give you the results you want (working to save up for surgery, building a career, changing habits etc.). So lazyness still does play a part here, as does lack of patience and resilience
