I used to be obligated to eat borsch, I could not swallow it no matter how I tried. Later on I realized why it made me throw up, toxic poisonous vegetables. I never had this feeling when eating meat or fish, feeling nauseous and wanting to throw up after eating only happens when eating vegetables/grains/nuts.
That was me with 80% of slav foods, I had to be force fed every day and still to this day never tried anything with potatoes in it only fries, that shit disgusted me the most.

There's salo which is really great. There's fishing culture as well and dairy is quite used in butter, tvorag, smetana and milk by itself. Raw milk straight from the cow is what my family grew up with and I'm the first generation that didn't. Fun fact I'm the only person in my family with malocclusion.
That's common for every population that has had peasants. It has some merit, finding non-edible looking plants and seeds to later on turn them "edible" to prevent yourself from dying since there was barely any other food around.

Well, it's cured, not sure if it can be classified as raw. I wish I was fed more of it while growing up, 800 calories per 100 g with all that nutritious animal fat. Damn I grew up so malnourished.
