I'm gonna try to actually fix my life as a 26 year old man living in a closet at home. What are the most important things you would recommend?

@anyone with legit life experience/success who wasn't insanely coddled.

I currently work at a gas station. My family allows me to live here rent free and they will not let me starve or anything. I am loved.
Should I try to change jobs to something more intensive/work more hours?

What would you recommend for actually changing my mindset into one that is more conducive to success while also maintaining a little freedom/flexibility?
How can I be more consistent in doing things I actually want to do?

How can I regain control of my life gone awry and actually live a real life?

Asking seriously and I will read advice and rep anyone who is well-meaning.

It is good that your family cares, I would suggest to get a CDL if you can, those jobs pay good money.

I think above all I would just like to regain some sense of order in my mind. I feel like(and this may be in part due to my ancestors who were primarily concerned with robbing and running fast) I tend to just crumble whenever I attempt to "set my mind on something". To be able to have a greater control over life/establish order rather than allow things to simply slip into mindlessly staring at my computer all day and repeating the same incelisms to myself.

Aside from that, some more concrete goals would be to:
-finish college
-lose 20lbs
-become more sociable/capable of navigating social interactions
-find better ways to make money
-not be a manchild in the eyes of my family

Looks level and youth indicators? There is nothing you can do if you are ugly and old, you will never find a virgin partner unless you look like the author of Lookism and dating roasties is pointless. Money wise, you will never be able to make money unless you think of a business. There is no other way to make money. Only pocket change part of the rat race living paycheck to paycheck there is no good career anymore.

slight temporal recession, but mulatto and I wear sunscreen daily/aggressively avoid sun + use a retinoid most nights, so collagen is virtually unchanged from when i was 16.

I don't need a virgin partner I'm fine if she has fucked another man.

Never begin for those born without resources from below average families that can't afford to send their kids to universities to have a middle class job from which they can start a career..

At 26 you should already have had your 2nd child, a house for which you took out a bank loan (if you had to move out of your subhuman depopulated hometown), a car and a wife, and a stable job for like 3-4 years already..

You are stuck and will be stuck for the rest of your life in the same loop that everyone without a college education is stuck in (either wage slaving some brain dead physical or stressful job for the lowest wage, or you work for higher pay, but that involves either night shifts that you pay for through your health, or being away from home for a longer time and coming home less often)

In any case, when dependence on caffeine, nicotine and alcohol will inevitably begin, it will be over anyway..

Save as much money as possible anywhere you can, don’t buy alcohol or lottery tickets, use the money to improve your life instead. Buy nice clothes that make you happy, eat healthier foods and hangout outside more. The more happy you are and the more healthy the more chances people will take with you. Maybe you’ll find a better job this way.

not rich or anything but if I wanted to my mom would probably be willing to completely support me, but I feel obligated to at least work a part time job to pay for some of my own stuff.

Write out a simple plan for your avg day, don’t make it complicated and stick with it, write like 2 things you want to make happen, and then at night think about your progress and what you can do better next time, writing things down keeps you accountable and motivated

That's probably a good idea. I often set out to do too much and then end up doing nothing. I have felt opposed to needing a plan out of some strange fear of excessive structure, but it's pretty clear my problem was never too much structure.

You should acquire higher ED to get a high paying job. Very generic but that's all there is. Depends mostly on luck tbh

You are 26. You have lived approximately 25% of your life.

Do these retards think the first 25% will determine the remaining 75%?

How much do you make a year?

I think it'd be hard to put an exact number on it, but almost certainly less than 20k.

I work weekends at a gas station typically about 25-30 hours in a normal week, making 11 an hour. The hours are also not stable though, and I regularly have weeks where they only give me 10 hours.
During the week I do math tutoring as a side hustle, usually charging 25-30 an hour. I enjoy doing math tutoring, but admittedly I don't make a lot of an effort to find new clients. I just get them through word of mouth mostly.

Damn less than 20k!

Idk where you live but that gas station job doesn’t sound too good. At least for now you could try find a shitty wage job that gives you 37.5 hours a week (9-5).

Are you good at tutoring math? The answer is literally screaming at you in the face. If you enjoy doing that invest more time into it. +you’ll be self employed, no moron managers and colleagues. Even if it helps you get more clients you could lower the your fees to like 20/hour and get more clients. You’ll still be payed double the amount your paid at the fucking gas station.

I'm not a math whiz by any stretch, but I think I've been helpful to my clients. The only reason I included 30 dollars in that pay range is because I have had some people force me to accept a pay raise, so at the very least I think I am doing a good job for them. I try to prepare mini lectures if they give me time beforehand, pdfs of worked problems, etc. I try to make sure they get their money's worth.
I guess I could try to expand the tutoring thing a bit more and actually advertise myself. I do very much enjoy it.

1. Dating experience is zero. I have never dated a single woman in my entire life. Not even as a kid.
2. I did go to college. I have some credits, I just never finished because it got to a point where I was just so internet addicted and depressed that I never went/never did anything but rot online and ended up failing out.

I’ll put it this way no matter what path you find the success you have to accept that it’s gonna be very difficult and along the way you are experience a great deal of suffering. That being said if I were you, I would probably go to community college and learn to become a welder or some sort of blue-collar job that pays well as far as dating goes I don’t know what your looks level but I suggest getting ratings from sub trustworthy guys on org and they’ll tell you what to fix

Sounds like you’re good at it. Make sure to advertise all that shit. Idk if there are websites for personal tutors where you can promote yourself.

Tutor still may have to be a side job tho cause I assume your teaching school kids so realistically mon-fri you’ll be working from 3 pm onwards.

Assuming 2 clients a day mon-Friday $25/hour that’s an extra 12k a year. (And that’s assuming they are 1 hour sessions)

Yeah, you can really only do it in the evenings and it dries up a bit during the summer months/winter break.
I could probably just make some local signs/even contact local schools to see if I can post flyers there. Or ask relatives to post in home school groups. I wouldn't mind a paycut to 15 dollars even to get more volume since it's just so much less stress than anything involving a cash register.

I think the dynamic is something I struggle with. Behind a cash register I feel you are more subject to random people trying to be assholes to you/intentionally make you uncomfortable. i prefer things where either I am in the role of an instructor or something that just places me away from people entirely aside from brief interactions. I had been looking for part time warehouse jobs recently or something that would just allow me to shut up and do my thing. I guess I shouldn't be that way if part of my goal is to improve my social skills, but I kinda worry that I already established that I'm a fearful pussy at my current job.

Nah I get you. Ive had customers become ass holes before and it scares the fuck out of me. Even when I know I could beat them in a fight or some low iq shit like that it's just the thought that ive done something wrong and im in trouble.

Thing is tho if you wanna fix your life your gonna have to have social skills and there is likely no way around it. I used to have solid social skills but I rotted and gymceled for a year and now ive set myself back slightly.

This gonna sound random af but to come across as more charming and friendly fix your teeth and smile. Having an infectious smile is literally a cheat code to get people to like you or be more open to you

I have been told I have a nice smile. Straight teeth and nonthreatening but thin palate which can be enough for normies. It’s just that I generally feel odd and creepy when I smile. I also just have weird thoughts and think about people reading my mind(like obviously they can’t, but I’ll fixate on it and feel like they can see right through me)

I will try to work on my social skills. I feel like I need to have something I don’t care about at all purely for the sake of building a social circle, where I can sandbox things and leave if I fuck up completely. Like some random club a city over? Does that sound like a good idea?

Is it sociopathic? Part of why I’m in this mess is that I completely failed the socialization process growing up. I didn’t have that chance to sandbox, I just retreated to the safety of the internet and gave up.

But yeah dude. the age thing is vicious. I can pass for early 20s lookswise, but I would be so embarrassed to tell anyone my actual age.

If you just want more money, you could work extra hours or find a higher-paying job in retail, customer service, or something requiring a skill you can quickly pick up (e.g., security, warehouse, delivery.etc. If you want to build a career maybe consider learning a skill that will pay off long-term.

Since you're already in IT, try leveraging that-maybe freelance web development, learning cloud computing, or getting an entry-level tech job but tbh the tech scene right now is competitive af so I'd suggest learning a trade first to gain a hard skill that pays you well like trucker, plumber ot something and then make the switch to a more white collar job once you have made enough money for college or something.Taking out a loan for college at 26 is risky unless it's for something with a guaranteed ROI. If you're gonna do it make sure the job prospects justify the debt. Otherwise, stacking cash in a trade and switching later is a smarter move.

If I pursue something in college seriously it would be some kind of stem field. You mentioned finance the other day, and obviously there is CS, but I worry that those are kinda competitive as you said. Do you think those would be worth pursuing for someone in my position though?

I considered pursuing a basic technician job, but in my area there are very few postings asking for those intro certs like A+ Net+ etc, they seem to mostly want a lot of experience. I could try to get back on that though or at least watch the job market near me.

You may be right about the trade thing though. That would at least set me up regardless of what I decide to do after.

I could try to see about working extra hours during the week too. . Main reason I haven’t is just worrying if I would have the time for my other obligations, but I do have some free time that I’m obviously wasting a lot of. I may try to put a lock on my phone/computer or something.

Yeah if you’re gonna take college seriously, STEM is the way to go especially if you want long-term stability and good pay. CS and finance are competitive but they still have a high ROI if you play it smart networking, projects, internships, etc and you could consider data analytics, cybersecuritycloud computing since they’re in demand but not as flooded as general CS but it is not going to be easy as at your age most people already have multiple years of experience under their belt bu

If tech certs aren’t helping in your area, you’re right to focus on watching the job market first No point grinding for A+/Net+ if no one’s hiring for them A trade could be a solid fallback imo it pays well, gives you financial security and you can always pivot later.

Working extra hours is a good short-term move for cash but yeah, balance is key If you already have some free time, might as well use it productively, whether that’s job hunting, learning a skill, or working extra hours.
