My husband and I have been married for 5 years. 3 years ago we were walking home from a date when we were attacked by a group of guys. They had baseball bats. He grabbed me and held me so that they couldn't hurt me. They just kept hitting him. They broke his back and cracked his skull. It was pretty bad. I just had two broken fingers.
When he finally woke up in the hospital after being in surgery for hours, he couldn't move his legs, but he could move his arms. Over the next few days he also lost control of his arms. For the last 3 years I've been with a quadriplegic husband. I can't do it anymore. Helping him dress and eat every day. Even with a nurse, it's just too much. I know he saved me. I know I would be in his position if it wasn't for him and I will be forever grateful. But I cant do it anymore.
