I'm too lazy to go to the gym, but when I'm there I spend a long time in the gym.

I even say to myself I'm going there for 45 minutes. And end up staying there an hour and a half.

Am I lazy? But if I was lazy why would I spend so long at the gym? But if I'm not lazy, then why do I have to push myself to go to the gym everytime?

These are questions which cannot be answered by philosophers since the days of Plato and Confucius.

Sounds like classic ADHD. The hardest part is initiating the task (like getting yourself to the gym), but once you’re there, you hyperfocus and end up staying longer than planned.

It’s not about being lazy, it’s about the mental friction of starting something. Once you overcome that hurdle, it’s easier to keep going.

Your brain is probably seeking the dopamine hit from working out, which is why you stay longer, but getting that initial push to leave the house feels like a chore because the reward isn’t immediate.
