I'm guessing they shortened his lower jaw. His bite is corrected now, so he's probably experiencing a lot of functional improvement. He should've gotten lefort instead.

My guess is the surgeon just moved his lower jaw backward without advancing the maxilla/incorporating an advanced technique (CCW rotation).
Being a Chinese myself, I know that most Asians need bimaxillary advancement surgery, modified LeFort III, genioplasty, and nose bridge augmentation. I would say the further as an Asian the further you deviate from the stereotypical East Asian looks, the more attractive you'll become.
