Inserting himself in with Jordan makes it look like he paid him to associate (which he obviously did do, as all brands do) but the point of modeling is the appearance of status by association, which is negated when you’re association is blatantly based on monetary incentives.

When’s the last time you saw a top fashion brand designer inserting himself or herself in with the models in the campaign? You don’t see it because the point of the advertisement is to give the illusion that good looking people WILLINGLY associate with your brand and don’t need monetary incentives to do so.

Apart from that he is just blatantly getting mogged here which is doubly worse because his whole brand is based on ascending and looking good, it makes his life’s work look foolish by comparison.
