All euros say height in metric since it is what they understand it's like a language thing. If you attempted to use the imperial no one would understand the amount so they would convert it defeating the whole purpose of using the imperial amount and people would see you as weird. Also by lowering the bar for what is considered tall in metric, you make everyone else appear taller. Rationally someone who is 5'6 appears 5cm taller compared to the ideal of a metric(180) than to an imperial(185cm), which should benefit them more.
