same in Europe. It's faster to start hybrid or onsite and hope that you can negotiate remote after half a year or something.

I've had a family friend who works in software industry who works for an Australian tech company from home. She lives in New Zealand so she basically works remotely exclusively. I think its possible largely only for IT industry though.

I know for sure it can be done. You probably gotta find the clients yourself though. That can be difficult because of the great firewall. Supplementary education was banned in 2022. You can't advertise on their internet. Dudes wife probably helped him find the clients on Wechat or Weibo.
