Spoke to an orthodontist about the subject today when I was getting x-rays done for my upcoming genioplasty. He said it is true that the pressure of the elastics may have some effect on the growth of the maxilla during puberty when your body is rapidly growing (which is why they wait to a certain age to put them on) but that there is absolutely no way that any pressure from a appliance could move the maxilla as it is not mobile like the mandible, only surgery. And now that I think about it im actually retarted for even asking this question because it makes no sense that your whole mid face (nose, cheeks, eye sockets) can be moved back from elastics pressure once it is already there. I want to know where the people on this forum got this information.
