I've never known anyone who was introverted and didn't have at least some minor mental health issues, wasn't very popular as a kid etc.

Humans are social creatures, your ancestors would not have survived as is now possible if they were introverted. The default for humans is to be extroverted.

Introversion is a maladaptive response to something going wrong in your life.
