No, I think these are caused by the modern living lifestyle, a too clean environment, processed food and not enough exposure to bacteria and other immune boosting factors. Back when I was a kid, allergies where simply unknown in Romania - we spend all the day outside, playing in the dirt, sand, with dogs and cats, we only took a bath once a week, we ate fruits straight from the trees without washing them, etc.
Now kids rarely play outside, they eat processed junk food, they stare at screens all day, they have allergies, food intolerances, autism, ADHD and other western diseases that didn't exist before.

They're genetic (like basically everything) but improved standards of living have increased the likelihood of allergycels reproducing (rather than dying during childhood).
