most people catch the cold including chad.
however, chads immune system is so good that symptoms barely show, if at all. Chads exists near timothy, giving timothy not only PTSD from a severe mogging but a cold as well. timothy ends up nearly dying because his immune system only has barely functioning white blood cells. The common cold is to timothy is the equivalent to a deadly virus.
