So recently I was watch my favorite youtuber Veritasium and stumbled across this video.

Heres a short summary of the whole video made by chatgpt
The video examines what truly leads to a happy life and shows that while money and achievement matter, they are not the main drivers of long-term wellbeing. Drawing on the 85-year Harvard Study of Adult Development, it finds that physical health habits and, most importantly, strong, meaningful relationships are the best predictors of happiness, health, and longevity. Money increases happiness up to a point, but deep social connections protect mental and physical health, reduce stress, and are what people value most when they look back on their lives

TLDR for the summary since i know most your brains are fried
Money doesnt equal happiness relationships equal happiness and feeling fullfilled.

heres some main takeaways from the video

The apparent dangers of loneliness on your life

studies show loneliness increases risk of:
  • Heart disease
  • Stroke
  • Dementia
  • Early death

The reasoning behind this is that having a partner in your life will give a drive to stay in good physical health and that you partner will be keeping you in check so you stay in good health.

A fun statistic from the vid

Being lonely = as harmful as smoking half a pack of cigarettes daily
Being lonely= just a dangerous to you as being fat and obese
Being lonely= more likely to get strokes
Being lonely= more likely to get diesease

Another fun statistic

Social isolation increases the risk of early death by 29%

Plus even if you feel happy with being alone (introverted) you are still being affected. Basically its over for introverts:feelswhy: Also this guy defined introverts as "having 1 or 2 really solid friends" like wtf. So its basically over for me.

forums like this are making to worse

At this point 99% of human interaction I have weekly come from this forum. I genuinely have 0 friends irl that I talk to normally. Apparantly interactions online are pretty much irrelevent and all it does it drive me deeper down the hole.

More interaction on this forum ---> more time on this forum ---->less irl human contact-----> loneliness and depression----> more health risk------> and earlier death or rope.

What people said their biggest regret was
Very little people had said their biggest regret was not achieveing something or not making enough money, but nearly everyone said their biggest regret was not spending enough time with people. BTW this is heavily distorted since this info was gathered after WWII but its still valid.

Bad relationships are worse than no relationships
uhh no explanation is really need for this one

For all the tiktokcels who worship having low cortisol

Being lonely puts your body in a constant stress mode
Humans have evolved as social beings. We are not meant to be alone. Basically being lonely puts your body in a permanent fight or fight mode. This raises your cortisol which after long periods of time will affect you negatively physically and mentally.

Loneliness also kinda makes you uglier
He said that it gives you chronic inflammation. Im not sure how long you have to be isolated and alone for this to actually be visible but still. I dont want to be chronically inflamed.

Tldr to explain title

You die faster

stress hormones and inflammation speed up aging and disease risk.

loneliness is linked to
  • higher risk of heart disease
  • higher risk of stroke
  • higher risk of dementia
  • earlier death
With no real friends and no foreseeable relationship, I gonna die before 30

As promised

I wonder if this is actually a reverse correlation and people with poor health markers are simply ostracised and lonely.
