Intellectual Q&A 2: Do you believe that genetic determinism is valid?

Please discuss your views and why you think they're correct.

summary of options:

Option 1: genes = fate
Option 2: genes (mostly) + environment = fate
Option 3: environment is mostly your fate
Option 4: the contents of your unconscious mind (inherited from parents) plays a huge role in how you turn out, you can alter the contents deliberately/unconsiosly, and it creates your body, behavior, biology etc.
option 5: god created my fate or created my starting point in life

I am a strict determinist. I believe that genetic and environmental factors made who we are, and we control neither.

I think genetics and environment are equally as important

how can it not? what is the argument against it? there is none

I believe my view because it seems that cells have minds of their own which can alter their gene expression based on the cell/cellular collection mental states, and genetics can not account for things such as morphology, behavior, and even genetic memories.

These are my arguments.

If you want, I actually made a thread based on this view and you can look at the "Resources for further exploration" if you're curious or even care.

Genetic determinism doesn't exist. It's incel cope.

It's been proven that diet, exercise, healthcare is all very revelant in a persons looks

John Mew had conducted an experiment on his son and daughter, he gave his son hard, tough food growing up and he developed properly with a strong jawline.
However, with his daughter, he brought her up on soft food, resulting in a soft, recessed jawline :Comfy:

our life is mostly determined by our genes but environment plays a big role (especially if your from a war torn country or something)

there is 0 argument for being born with a incel skull vs chad skull and saying its not determinism?

even the idea of human birth and genetic recombination is legit determinism

Well, we're explicitly talking about genetic determinism.

God created us from start to finish, you dont need to look good to live a good live, but its a big addition to life if yes.

I believe option 4 based on emerging science I found when trying to answer the question of why people have different morphologies

It's a nice subject but i don't vote because some of the answers you give are not necessarily excluding of others.

Is this for a physical/looks perspective or are you talking about whether you’re in control of any actions you take ?

Your whole being, so both and more.

genetics facilitate ability, environment provides the resources to express said ability.

Determinism is true but for some reason people cope very hard about this.

Like legit “smart” people go insane coping about how you can somehow be in control of your fate. It’s a really strange phenomenon.

Why?
It's just two sides of the same coin
well, one is genes, the other is god. option 5 could imply other non-genetic things one has been designed with by god.

Genes are determined by the environment, so the more correct term is environmental determinism.

God decides your fate i have seen peopel with terrible genes succeed in all aspects of life while being lazy as well

am atheist so dont believe in the last option
i believe both 2 and 4
1 and 3 are retarded
