Solution: Lets say the prices of the 5 parrots are a, b, c, d, e and e is the price of the parrot that fled. Since the average price is 50€, all 5 parrots must have cost a + b + c + d + e = 250€.

After the parrot fleeing the average price is only 40€. Thus a + b + c + d = 160€

250€ - 160€ = 90€ = e = price of the parrot that fled.
