Is 1 cheat meal a week enough to ruin progress?

I’m currently eating super strict like 1200calories a day (6 eggs 1lbs beef supps) to get all my micros plus high protein and low fat/semi low carbs. Sometimes it’s closer to 1300 if I have multiple energy drinks or something but that’s not a big deal


On fridays im going into Chick-fil-A and ordering a 60 count catering platter of nuggets as a once a week cheat meal to keep my mind ok and help me stay consistent. Im trying to fiqure out if the physical consequences are hurting me more than it’s worth

I’m still getting more than enough protein obviously but it’s like 2.4k calories (brings my average over the week to 1.4K)

What I’m afraid of is if you diet to strictly you will eventually relapse and binge

I think this is a preferable option it’s the lesser of the 2 evils

yeah, for most people they need a cheat meal to function since they don’t have the willpower to go through with it for the entire duration of their cut. it won’t affect you much since majority of your progress comes from your weekly average, still stalls your progrsss

i usually just use my cheat meal on chest day and eat a fuck ton of sour patch kids so atleast get a sick pump from the cheat meal

it’s common sense, if you break your diet for a day, you’re obviously going to stall your progress to some extent

I went with the mindset that i can have a cheat meal a week but its just ended up being a series of weeks gobbling down only fast-food.

This is all assuming 3500 calories per pound lost and 2000 baseline diet, 1200 puts you at a deficit of 800 calories a day.

If you have one cheat day of 2400 that puts your average calories up to 1371 from 1200, an increase of 13%.

2000 - 1371 = 629 daily deficit w/ cheat meal

629 x 7 = 4403 weekly deficit w/ cheat meal
which is 1.25 lbs lost per week

Vs

800 x 7 = 5600 weekly deficit w/o cheat meal
which is 1.6 lbs per week.

That means my only sugar intake is from ketchup when I eat my cheat meal

Unless eggs, milk, or butter have any but I doubt it

if u want an excuse to eat out, go with a bunch of friends and walk around a bunch and shit. Then without knowing it u will get a bunch of steps. Finish the meal of with an ice cream its low calorie and seciating. And there.

I went out recently, got a mcflurry, walked around a bunch did a bunch of shit, then demolished an entire massive pizza. And was still in a deifict.

I been eating 1.5k a week for 2 months, cheat meals just make you sad. Don’t do it.

I eat grass fed beef and eggs and all that shit but I don’t think I should worry that much if I’m on oral steroids doing 100x the damage

There’s a difference between a cheat meal and a cheat day.

A cheat day hinders or stalls your progress. Cheat meals are perfectly okay if you can control yourself. They shouldn’t rlly ruin progress, you’re just eating less healthy.

Count your weekly calories and subtract it from your maintenance x 7, that will give you how many calories you have left. Anything below 3,500ish without exercise is going to be slow fat loss (if that's your goal). You could always do them biweekly or so, that's what I typically do, or I do an entire 4-6k calorie cheat day once a month.

u dont have family? why dont u go out with brother or something to get some munch. Also why dont u go gym do a bunch of jogging and then walk to the mcdonalds, and then walk home. And then eat the mcdonalds when ur home.

Anything below 3,500ish without exercise is going to be slow fat loss (if that's your goal). You could always do them biweekly or so, that's what I typically do, or I do an entire 4-6k calorie cheat day once a month.
It says my maintenance is 2.6k (random google calculator) and I’m eating 1,450 a day if you count my cheap meal… and that’s with a ~100 calorie buffer for drinks and stuff per day

So I’m in a 8000 calorie a week deficit….

A “cheat” day for me would easily be 5-6 thousand calories im talking about a single 2.4K cal meal

My cheat meals used to be 4K calories this is much lower

Well my maintenance will continue to go down as I get leaner
8000 is a pretty steep calorie deficit, wouldn't be worried about it going down much unless you're fat as hell or you're starvemaxxing
