He just doesn’t know what he’s talking about. My bimax surgery is planned to distalize my mandibular ramus, which will consequently make it more visible.
But if he’s talking exclusively about the shape of the angle, then he’s right.

mhm yeah its not going to change the shape (jaw angle implant would be needed for that), but ofc it will lower the gonial angle?? also is distalizing the ramus same thing as ramus widening? because ive never heard of that before but im guessing its the same thing

Dont listen to that jew

I mean yeah he’s right, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it cant reduce the appearance of a downgrown jaw.

The actual gonial angle won’t change, however there are alternatives that I’ve seen, jaw angle implants and different types of osteotomies can be used.

@RealSurgerymax what is this type of osteotomy: I’ve never seen something like this before:

If you don’t care about never having jaw sensitivity again, that’s the segmentation!

My thinking is that the mandibular plane angle is what actually matters in terms of "rotational" aesthetics of the jaw, not the gonial angle. That begs the question though, is it possible to have a good MPA with a bad gonial angle?
