All fiber really does is make you gassy.
Are you referencing studies which prove a correlation, or studies which prove a causation link? There is a HUGE difference. It does make sense to me that it would increase good gut bacteria though, but that said you are right - a dichotomic way of thinking is bad, and just because fiber may have a demonstrable good effect does not necessarily mean it is beneficial for you in a comprehensive sense. It also doesn't mean it is necessary. Contrary to NPC theory we know that fiber is not required to prevent constipation because plenty of people don't eat it and have no trouble with bowel movements.Yet it higher intake has been proven to a) reduce cancer risk b) increase "good" gut bacteria c) help lower blood pressure.
Such dichotomic way of thinking is useless in 99% of cases, especially when talking about the human body.

No. Tons of people doing carnivore have found that they don't require fiber. All fiber really does is make you gassy. There's no evidence that the lack of it constipates you.
