Yeah I think midface compactness is overrated. Lots of flaws with that generality. Some things are absolute, like low bf%, hairline, philtrum, etc

If fwhr comes from width of face then it's legit but if from lack of length then not. Ideally you want face to be wide, tall and forward projected meaning well developed in all three dimensions.

You don't need Superman tier fwhr. Just have average or slightly above average fwhr you're fine. But yes angularity and visible bones are way more important.

FWHR is crucial to create an attractive face. Not to rely solely on it. A puzzle with incomplete piece is not attractive. A single puzzle is never beautiful without the others.
