I literally just graduated, and here's my advice:

Now that I am applying for jobs, I can see that getting a degree is absolutely necessary to pursue a career in anything worth pursuing, unless you're remarkably talented and can go off and do something on your own.

However, if you aren't going to a top-tier university - one that you can name drop to employers and get a job - you should just go to your local community college and live at home while you grind out real experience in whatever field you're looking to pursue.

I.e. if you want to be a software developer, go get a computer science degree while ALSO doing some kind of work on the side (making websites, making apps to put on your portfolio, etc.).

I regret going to a very expensive out-of-state school purely because I could've gotten the same, or nearly the same value, going to one of the many competent colleges near my original home, and I would've had more time to develop actual marketable skills.

College is shit, and barely teaches you anything that employers will actually pay you to know, but the degree, the piece of paper itself, opens many doors that will be forever shut to you without it.

Also, if you weren't pulling girls in high school, you certainly will not be pulling high value girls in college where there is much more competition.

To be frank the issue with college is they screw you over and want a degree and relevant internship experience and good grades. Those people get the best offers. You can still get offers in semi related fields but its a lot of applications. And I feel your better off just working in some job for free temporarily to get experience then waste your precious youth in college.

its better to make some money for a few years and live with your parents rent free , get some experience in the exact field you want to go then do college and get fucked when they want some experience.
