I tried to get Isotretinoin today but my dermatologist said my ALT enzyme in my liver was a bit higher than normal levels. I stopped taking meds (things I normally take) like a week before getting the blood test and I don’t understand if it spiked just before the test or not. Is my derm fucking with me?

I did accutane for 9 months & dk even what that enzyme is. As long as you're LDL's good you should be fine I think

High ALT indicates acute liver damage.
There are many different things that can cause liver damage, meds are one of those.

Could be https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilbert's_syndrome#:~:text=Gilbert's syndrome (GS) is a,, weakness, and abdominal pain.

i had elevated liver measurements in my blood test

just dont drink alcohol or take a lot of supplements while on accutane; you should be ok.

i'd say find a laxxer derm, mine was like: itll be fine

She’s making me see a liver specialist doctor then a immunologist after I fix my liver problem then see her. Wtf do I do I’ve spent like 500$ already for her shit topical creams that I did for 1 day but my skin got irritated as fuck

search for other derm, read reviews, find someone who has reviews from ppl who had accutane with mild acne. shop around til you find a derm that gives you what you want.

JFL do you even know what Gilbert's disease is? The guy simply posted that he had high ALT and you assumed he had Gilbert's :lul:
There are countless causes of high ALT and you assumed he had Gilbert's just by the fact that he had high ALT without any symptom or exam to back it up

Holy fuck, go back to your cage greycel

Did you have to take a blood test?

I don’t have gilberts lmao

My ALT level is 34 is that too high for Accutane?
34 is within normal levels here (idk if they use different methods in different countries but here 34 is normal)
But if you dermatologist said you should not take it then you should listen to him

Male normal levels is up to 40UL
I’m 34UL
I don’t understand how that’s too high
Unit of measurements in my derm is 5-30 that’s like a woman’s range

Accutane is a really rough drug, it changes hormones all over the body and can damage the liver.
It's wise to follow what your derma said, after all he has a lot of experience with it.

Your ALT levels are probably alright but there might be another reason as to why he told you not to take it.

Should I go to the liver specialist in case? I’ve got anxiety problems from relatives not giving a shit about medical problems and getting fucked by it and I can’t stop thinking about it

Nah, you shouldn't.
At first I thought there might have been something that made she worried about you but now that I read the story I am 100% sure she is just trying to milk your money even more.
Your ALT is normal and you shouldn't worry too much about accutane but if you want to be extra safe then go see another derma.

Accutane doesn’t affect hormones

Then post studies that claim it didn't lower pituitary hormones

First 2 studies measured sexual hormones, not pituitary hormones
This study doesn't say what they took unless you pay for it, there is nothing in the abstract saying that they took accutane. In the end they say that they tried topical and systemic treatments.

Bitch u know about sci-hub?

No you don’t. If you did, you would see that they used Isotretinoin
Cope

JFL at you for ignoring all the evidence suggesting that accutane fucks up pituitary hormones just because you found an underground study that said it doesn't while there are countless studies and dermatology books saying it does.

You didn't even read 2 out of the 3 articles you posted.

JFL this forum is full of brainlets

There are only two studies confirming effects on pituitary hormones which are both from the same dubious Turkish researchers

JuSt acknowledge that there is contradicting research on this field. Also lol @ "underground study" seriously?
