Yes, that might've been the case back in the 80s or 90s. However, now that everyone has their personal computer, social outcasts will usually rather choose gaming over studying. And gl people do care about their grades. They have good looking parents, who as a result have good paying jobs, who want their child to have one as well, so they push him to study.
