Is iq really a good measure of intelligence?

Is it just a western standard you have to meet as a measure of general intelligence?

For example:

Adam lanza - his iq was dead average yet was able to write multiple plays, essays, studied everyday and was incredibly gifted in math and computer science.

Not really, there are different types of intelligence, IQ tests are just some pattern recognition tests
