Lose it first.

It's harder to stay disciplined with working out and eating properly than it is to lose weight.

If you can't lose weight you won't stand a chance getting a good physique in the gym.

You'll also be aesthetic quickly. Skinny > skinny fat and the muscle gains will show quickly instead of be hidden by fat.

Why water fast? You have some muscle and you'll probably lose that too. If you want to lose weight quickly just do a PSMF
Water fasting is extremely muscle sparing.. but he better be supplementing with salt and other minerals like potassium.

You don't need potassium unless you're doing extended fasting or refeeding with garbage food.
Just salt is fine but keep your fasts to 3-7 days maximum.
Not medical advice of course but this is what I do.
See video in sig.

Most people plan long fasts until they realize it's fucking hard and they can barely do 2 days.
Get serious this won't be easy but it does work. Try 48 hour fasts with 500-1000cal refeeds and work your way up. If you try for too many days you'll burn out your will power and hate fasting. Also long fasts tend to result in major weight rebound because you haven't built up the discipline. Most people who manage to fast 2 weeks regain all the weight where people who manage 48s consistently build discipline and don't binge after.

Not if you are already pretty lean and you're doing it for more than a few days.

i already did 3 days in a row in the past while doing sport, but my relatives asked me to stop. I guess i'll try to do a week, then restart. how many days you think i have to wait to restart?

Something I learned about fasting, and dieting in general, is that if you suffer from anxiety then you'll have a tough time not eating. Not because of hunger but from unstable emotions that disguise themselves as mental cravings.

You restart immediately after eating your refeed meal. So you just eat once and then technically you're fasting from that point on again.

This is true but OP is not "pretty lean" judging by pictures. He has at least 20lb to lose to hit 12%.
I don't recommend people do long fasts anyway as I wrote above. You are correct though if you want to do a long one and you're not obese then a PSMF is optimal but also more complicated.

Overall if you start feeling "actual" hunger with dizziness and other symptoms then you should end your fast as you're likely beginning to break down muscle.

But 48-72hr fasts for someone at his BF% will not burn muscle.

so you would reccomend me a 2-3 day fast instead of 1 week

And how much body fat can one burn during a 3 day fast for example? I think I'm at a similar body fat (20%).

At your bodyfat you could fast a week without losing muscle but not longer than that. You would have to listen to your body for what I mentioned above which indicates the start of muscle loss.
Again I don't recommend long fasts at all unless you're obese. Do 48-72s with a tiny 500-1000 calorie meal.
One 7 day to kick it off would in all likelihood be fine.
