the internet says it’s a sign of high IQ. I do this too. I have full blown conversations with myself out loud all the time. I was surprised to learn other people don’t.

It might also just be that you have a particularly auditory way of processing information.
 
I think people with a lot of fast moving thoughts are more likely to talk to themselves as a means of organizing those thoughts and such a temperament is more likely to show up in someone with a higher IQ. However on the flip side this temperament is more likely to show up in a crazy person too. Talking out loud to yourself is not purely indicative of one or the other, the two things may even be slightly correlated.
