This has been on my mind for a bit, though many aspects of combat sports training is very beneficial, the combat itself can be damaging. What mostly been bugging me is in these kinds of sports (boxing, mma, etc.) is that you can break things such as a nose which is not ideal, am I right to be this paranoid or am I tripping and I should just continue the sport.

if youre just training and light sparing youre not gonna break your nose

I plan on joining championships, local and state, I've been doing boxing for a while, plan on moving to mma but I havent really done hard training or sparring for it.

pretty much, but I don't want to end looking like some ltn because of it, want opinions if I should continue, ykyk.

well theres a pretty decent chance that you will break your nose, get bruised up, etc etc so its probably not the best idea if youre serious about looking good. just depends on what you prioritise more

I go for boxing instead of cardio after a workout session, higher chance to be injured facially in hand combat driven sports, i myself got some bruises. If u wanna go on safe side go for jiu Jitsu, tried it won't injured u facially and helps a lot if in a combat

I see, I want to try muay thai is it less damaging to the face or is it pretty equal to boxing?

More damaging considering the fact that even legs are involved

99% of the sport you will be doing cardio btw, fighting is like 1%.

I didn't heard of someone breaking nose on the spar you are ffighting half power not full lol.

in any case you can just ask to not fight with people only train the strikes or kicks.

Boxing is definitely more damaging, the range is so much closer and body/legs are much more of a target in Muay Thai. You can just look at concussion rates across the combat sports and boxing is the always the worst. If you go pro you might get some scarring when it comes to elbows but that’s only in fights ofc.

I’m definitely biased but if you want to transition to mma it’s better to do kickboxing than boxing as boxing is pretty rare to see as a base in mma.

yeah transitioning to kickboxing would make a lot more sense.
