How can I temporarily lose my sense of taste for a week or longer? Are there numbing creams, sprays, lozenges, gum, or pills that can achieve this?
If I lost my sense of taste, sticking to a diet and eating bland or bitter foods would become much easier. Without the pleasure of tasting flavorful foods, I wouldn’t be tempted to overeat, which is a key reason for my weight gain.
I've noticed that I don't care much about eating to feel full. All I care about is enjoying the taste of food. Once I'm full, the flavor becomes dull and unimportant, which highlights that it was the taste, not the need for nourishment (feeling full), that mattered to me.
