Is it possible to use this if I was in the front and someone was sitting in the back of the car?

The back seat door in my car (Unintentionally, of course) is broken and can’t be open if somebody decided to escape. I wonder if it’s possible to pick this up quickly and strike while sitting in front of the car. (For self defense purposes only).
