Is it true that braces during puberty inhibits maxilla forward growth?

Title. I hit puberty late, around 14 - 15, got my braces at 15. Had them on for 3 years. Did it inhibit my maxilla forward growth? And how much growth does it generally restrict.

I had rubber bands.

I've heard it does, but as far as I'm aware I don't think there's any scientific studies on it. There was one comparison / experiment where one twin was treated using orthotropics and and the other with orthodontics, and the former ended up having a more developed face.

Anecdotally, I've had braces and I have a flat maxilla, however that could also be down to subhuman British genes.

Had one guy check my side profile, he said my maxilla wasn't recessed nor forward grown; just average, but this forums standards say I'm recessed 🥲.

Wish somebody told me in the past to wait and get them now. A Henry Cavill developed maxilla feels robbed from me (if maxilla is that heavily dependent on unrestricted growth)

Or get an invisalign instead

There's still the gentic aspect of it. Sure, you probably didn't reach your genetic potential, but if it's any consolation, you most likely don't have Henry Cavil tier genetics to begin with.

Reaching my genetic potential would've been a nice improvement though. Then I may have slight forward growth according to this forum.

the level of cope. "its not forward grown, but its not recessed"

you can always reach your genetic potential. its just gonna take longer as it requires more work as you age.
