Usually things that enter your device from another ie torrenting which is peer to peer with another system it will be also encrypted on the server level by each websites http/s address.

Unless your parents have installed a monitor on the modem/router itself they will not have access to it. But even if they did your PCs anti virus would be warning you 24/7 that the connection is not secure

Yes. If you use a VPN your internet traffic is routed through their servers meaning your ISP can't see what websites you go on, neither can a network traffic monitor on your router, it'll just show you connecting to the VPN servers.

Also, they can't see what you search, just the domain you connect to, so when you use google for example it'll just show "google.com" or the IP in the logs.
