Grew up Baptist, and attended church every Sunday.

The Jews were held to this type of standard throughout the entirety of the Old Testament. Every time God tried to get a guy to save the world, the guy failed because he couldn't resist jerking it (or sinning in some way). God eventually had to ask His right hand to save the world, which is the basis for the New Testament. The guy God asked actually succeeded (he didn't have to, mind you, he was already royalty). This would be the equivalent of Gandy ordering O'Pry to purchase LeFort III's for all subhumans. Probably worse, since he had to assume the body of a Jew.

No. If you are saved, you would seriously have hatred towards your sin and more love towards God and righteousness, just like him. Repentance from your sins is NOT a work at all. Ceasing to sin is not a work. In fact, sinning is a work (a bad one).
