Modern football has changed a lot. These days on field positions in football are a lot more Dynamic and fluid. For example positions like these are common now. Inverted fullbacks ( Cancelo, Zinchenko). False 9s (Messi, Totti). Wingers becoming inside forwards (Salah, Vinicius, Mbappé) etc.

Real does this often. Bellingham is traditionally a central midfield but often moves forward and remains there even when they lose possession kinda like in a CAM position. If you have seen matches from earlier this year you might have seen him moving into the box too like a traditional striker

1000197166

Same with Valverde some days he plays in a full back position and other times in the center

1000197167

Tchouaméni plays as defensive midfield for france and remains ahead of the defenders to help in build up but these days he falls back when the ball is not in possession to play like a center back

The result is football has become boring and robotic there are very few spontaneous moments everything is drilled in training. This is kind of switching roles also leads to Risk-averse play. It is like teams are afraid to go ahead to score.Dribblers, nutmegs, solo goals are rare in big games these days. Also lots of "safe" passes: especially from teams like City.

In old school football. It was a complete chaos.Hard tackles. There was raw aggression. The Classic No. 9s bullying defenders like R9 Ronaldo vs Maldini.Pure striker vs Pure defender. Zinedine Zidane a central playmaker. Always played behind the strikers. Didn't track back like a modern CAM do. Rigid formations that made individual battles (winger vs fullback) more visible and fun.

playing football yourself can be cool, but this whole hobby of watching others play football is for fucking losers.
Couldn’t agree more.

Grown men fighting over which group of multi millionaires is better and crying if the multi millionaires (who don’t give a shit about them) lose.

Imagine wasting your time and money and getting emotional over that. Cucked.

Love playing football though, one of the best sports to do along side mma.

Yes the art of football is dead as everyone adapted to the same robotic style of playing, failing to realize the true artistic nature relied on our own instincts

I specifically kept my insult towards you to you being ashamed of being fat, unathletic and lackluster in ball-handling for you to not play sports yourself.
As in I don't actually judge you for being fat, unathletic or lackluster. I think this is normal and I think people, of any age, should be given a lot of lee-way for their performance and athleticism.

People often say that nowadays we give people who are not top-performers too much credit, we give too many awards and recognition to people who 'lost'.
But I disagree with that entirely. I think someone who is competing, but lost, should be celebrated still. For what they achieved, their will, their drive.

I am not athletic myself either except for being good at lifting heavy objects of the ground. And I am good at skiing.
I want to get into more sports myself but ill be a beginner loser ofcourse.

I hope you find the will to practice the sport(football) you like so much yourself.

I'm unathletic and skinny.
Thanks for your advice. I do play football, but I'm not very good at it.
I agree that spending too much time watching sports can be a waste, but that doesn't mean everyone should stop watching entirely.
As long as it doesn't dominate your life, I think spending a little time and energy on something like this is fine.
I think someone who is competing, but lost, should be celebrated still. For what they achieved, their will, their drive.
I can understand why you feel so much frustration toward sports fans.
Yes, many sports fans don't mind if a match is boring; they just want to see their team win.
When a player gives their all and still loses, some fans act like they committed national treason.

The main issue is that most leagues are so predictable. You know which team will win after a few months:
PL: City, sometimes Liverpool
La Liga: Barcelona, Real Madrid
Bundesliga: Bayern
Ect

Like you said most teams are very robotic. I think that might slowly change because PSG was very exciting. Fast past and fluid. Some teams might replicate that.

Knockout tournaments are like always, the best part of football.
