it is definitely influenced by orbital and zygomatic structure, but idk, might just have to do with soft tissue

not everything can have a singular cause

No. NCT happens when the frontal process of the zygomatic is lower than the frontal process of the maxilla. Medial canthus and the ligament it’s attached to is attached to the top of the frontal process of the maxilla, lateral canthus and the ligament it’s attached to the top of the frontal process of the zygomatic.

People with negative canthal tilt will almost always have rounded supraorbital rims, which is also caused by low set zygomatics.
