Is rarity linked to attraction/appeal?

Say someone was born naturally with purple eyes would this be attractive simply because of its uniqueness and rarity?

I can’t see in what way purple eyes could bring any physical advantages to life so, maybe not all attraction is based solely of genetic health characteristics.
