For those who don't know, a guy is trying to climb a supertall skyscraper with no safety rope, here's a story about it:
www.theguardian.com
Anyway, my brother and I were debating this: Is it acceptable to do something as risky as this, knowing you would leave a wife and child behind if you died? Obviously, his wife married him knowing he was a freeclimber, but his child did not ask to be born into his family. I can't see how it is fair to the child if (god forbid) his own father dies in a Squid Game-esque Netflix livestream for the world to see. I think I would harbor significant resentment to my own father if he did such a thing, especially if I were younger. And it's not like he is risking this sacrifice for some monumental societal achievement like Neil Armstrong or something. He is risking it for a meaningless cash grab on fucking Netflix. LMK y'all's thoughts.
