we've had forums forever, like bbs(bulletin board systems) since mid 80s internet. that's what i used when i first started out, then web 2.0 came about and people started using forums. that's where it should have stopped imo.

myspace, facebook and reddit was the beginning of the end. humans need to feel like they are in a community of like minded people. what modern social media does is make you feel like you are beset by morons that you can't get away from
