Is the lack of tooth show sign of an underveloped vertically maxilla?

Lack of tooth show when you very slightly open your mouth like this:

couldnt find a better example, but this is what should happen

it seems to be a very common thing among mouth breathers (even if you think you are a nose breather, if you breathe through your mouth at night you still count as mouth breather).

Would the downward lengthening of maxilla with lefort 1 fix it?

Jfl you do not want a vertically downgrown maxilla, the shorter it is the better, the more forward grown the better, two different things. You want a vertically grown jaw ideally instead, eg a long ramus

i dont know but another way of identifying these people is if they smile and you only see the top of their teeth

yeah I articulated myself wrongly, maxilla should ideally grow forwards and downwards, short face syndrome can be caused by vertical maxillary deficiency https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/6945418
