Makes sense, I'm like 18.5-18.75 inches and look relatively wide compared to my waist but I'm not significantly fat.

Im 19inch and feel small, but it could be because of a) fat people b) Ive got bdd. However, ive been told my shoulders are wide, but when I look in mirrors/selfies they look narrow so who knows. I do however have a lean build and slim waist.

Think it's the civilian one which is strange since the civilians are wider than the military. However what I have noticed is that the civilians are fat do they would have a much larger size due to this effect. 20 inches on someone who is of a set height and slim would look different on some else of the same height and fat.

Yeah I agree. Obese people have much wider shoulders, and im pretty sure about 70% of USA is overweight or obese. Hence the average should be about 18 inch if people were healthy.

taking into account many different anthropometry surveys i would estimate the average is ~19.5" with a standard deviation of ~1.25"

that would mean these are the bideltoid percentiles

1st percentile - 16.6
2.5th percentile - 17
16th percentile - 18.25
50th percentile - 19.5
84th percentlie - 20.75
97.5th percentile - 22.0
99th percentile - 22.4
99.5th percentile - 22.7

so i'm 99.5th percentile or 1/200 according to that

It would be skewed though. There is a much higher upper limit due to obesity, meanwhile who can only go so low since you cant continue to remove fat/muscle from shoulders. Hence a 22.4 inch should be more common than a 16.6 but who tf know lol

Biacromial < bideltoid. Biacromial is more accurate though as it's bone structure

I measured shoulder to shoulder and got like 18 I might have a 19 or 20 inch bideltoid

im 20.8" and only started gym . In 3 years and using peptides I will get 26" bideltoid
