Currently I’m using basic skin care: cleanser, toner, and moisturizer. I’m eating clean and drinking water. My skin is very good at the moment. I have no acne. I was considering starting tretinoin .025% starting 2x per week.

The only reason why I would is to improve skin texture (make smoother) and get the a bit of “tret glow”. But again, I don’t have any acne.

Do the potential side effects and purging outweigh the benefits at this point?

yes, its worth it and also helps with anti aging so its better for the long run. btw you should throw in SPF50 in you havent already

Isn't really a bad side effect. Purging happens at the beginning due to the actual mechanism of all retinoids. It's temporary innately and the benefits are fantastic. It is prescribed for acne generally, but it is much more than that. It's great for fine lines, scars, strengthens the collagen matrix, etc.. It really is useful. It's the most versatile topical around.
