IS UNI A SCAM OR WORTH IT? TRYING TO STACK MONEY FOR SURGERIES

I need to make as much money as possible, and I’m wondering if uni is actually worth it or just a waste of time and debt.

Why It Seems Like a Scam

£50K+ in debt for a degree that doesn’t guarantee a good job

Low graduate salaries (£25K-30K) while I could be working & saving instead

Everyone has a degree, so it’s not special anymore

Faster ways to make money (trades, business, online income)

But Could It Still Be Worth It? STEM & finance degrees pay well if I pick the right field

Some jobs require it (doctor, lawyer, engineer)

Top unis help with networking and better opportunities

Uni experience & social life, but I care more about making money

Should I bother with uni, or just focus on getting rich with other methods like memecoin trading or day trading cause i see my peers (online) making borderline generation wealth in the span of what? 6 months? Thats mire than enough for my surgeries.

for getting your surgeries asap an option where you can get lots of internships like trades would be more beneficial

No, that’s not the plan. I’m definitely aware that facial features alone won’t land me a high-ranking job. But looks can help open doors in terms of first impressions, networking, and personal brand, especially in industries where image matters. However, the real goal is to focus on building experience, skills, and a network—while also investing in myself (like with surgeries) to maximize my potential in the long run.

And its not like im a retardcel that couldnt focus in class, i have advanced higher scottish qualifications and a HNC that are addored by foreign universities.

University is worth it if you're going to study natural sciences or engineering. Otherwise it's hit or miss.

Like almost everything, it depends. You answered your own question comprehensively.
If you're relying on this site for advice then you truly are lost.

?? Im looking for third party advice from people who have actually got a degree not from incels who are struggling with higher math.

Shouldve made that clear.

Research what the highest paying sectors.
Reference the skill requirements against skills and degree pre-requisites - if there are any.
Decide.

uni is extremely important in 2025, if you dont have a uni degree you're basically a subhuman in society after 25+.
Do Not listen to the online guru scammers UNI is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT even if you never hold a job using that uni degree, it's the bare minimum to be considered as a sentient human.

Definitely not worth it in the UK. Losing 5 years of earnings and going into debt is not worth the mediocre increase in pay.
Better to learn a trade.
Uni is only worth it for the experience, which will suck if you have unaddressed surgery needs.

As a college graduate of finance its a utter scam

Just go do the trades . AI is taking over rapidly and already has automated a lot of jobs. The government is just cooking the unemployment numbers making them a lot lower then real numbers. NEETS are a lot more common then you think due to the shit labor markets

Sure apprenticeships dont pay that much in the beginning but at least with experience you can get raises. Usually 3-5 years in you get huge raises and become whats called a journeyman. Those guys can just job hop company to company and get huge money.

Thats is the secret in the trades. Work 6 months-9 months in a company initially, learn as much as you can , get all the certifications, and aggressively network so you can find the company that pays you well.

Otherwise yes apprenticeships in the trades will generally pay shit in the beginning like maybe 14-16$ in the USA, and probably 30% less in the UK, so 10-12 pounds a hour , but those numbers would double in about 4 years.

If your keen on finance, then learn as much financial modeling from YouTube. You could consider a course on wallstretet oasis for like 500-600$, but you don't need it as YouTube has tons of free shit.

Get very good at excel, and learn how to talk with people and be super NT and low inhibition. People skills are important in any sort of client facing roles in finance also. If you can do good financial modeling and projecting, as well as good people skills, you can get a good finance job.

Given how terrible the job market is the best way to network would be the folliwing

1) In person , impress people in finance or the field you want to go . Show them a portfolio fo some projects you did on some website with your stuff, as well as be able to talk about things.
If they seem to not believe then offer to show in person and then be willing to be critiqued and learn
2) On Linkedin you can cold call with a messaging template asking to have a chat about the job and being interested in learning more. Talk about how your experiences match with the job, and if you dont have professional experience then talk about how your personality matches the job profile requirements.

Then maybe 5-10% of the time the person would be willing to refer you ( without having to meet in person). In person is going to be a lot better, probably a 25-33% success rate, so nearly 3-5x better .

Most people wont refer a random person but if you have a good convo with grabbing coffee or lunch some might recommend you

Fuck college, make as much bread as you can NOW. You can also consider Sales. Use the Andrew Tate method if they bitch about degree " I would be willing to work for free for 2 weeks to demonstrate by skills to you, and then at that point you can decide how you want to proceed , how does that sound? ", and some employers will be willing to hire you. Sales is all about people skills no technical skills needed.

And contrary to popular belief you dont have to be chad to succeed in the field since most of the stuff is done through email and phones these days, not as much in person. Having a mogger high t voice is going to be the most important thing.

In person sales looks will help but nowhere as much as just having a good product to sell that is affordable. Those items will sell themselves at that point.

This is why i came to this forum, for high iqcels such as yourself :feelswow:

The fact that even finance grads are saying it’s a scam just proves how oversaturated and inefficient the whole system is. Everyone treats uni like some golden ticket to wealth, but in reality, it’s just a glorified waiting room for mid-tier jobs (if you’re lucky).

The trades strategy you laid out is solid—low pay at first, but once you stack experience and certs, you can just job-hop your way to high earnings with no degree filter. It’s crazy how more people don’t realize this.

Sales is also the ultimate “no degree, no experience” wealth hack if you have the right personality. The Tate method is underrated too—employers don’t care about a piece of paper if you can just prove your value immediately.

Appreciate the insight, this post alone is more useful than anything a career advisor would say.

Define scam.

They provide you with a piece of paper that you can wipe your ass with. Their is no guarantee of a job or even an internship or that you will get a job in your field. Now if you really specialize and go in a field with a high growth rate and low percentage of AI taking over soon and learn to test out of most courses for free or cheap and do it in a field that has a high salary and can lead to your own online business, then you may be into something.

In the end they reward you with a piece of paper as promised. The rest is up to you basically.

Anybody who says that going to college isn't worth it just got a bullshit degree. Like yeah, a gender studies degree isn't gonna open up many job opportunities, who would have thought....
The vast majority of high income earners have a college degree and "reputation" and grades matter very little compared to actually getting a degree in something that does give you a lot of job opportunities.
