New laws like the OSA (Online Safety Act) and absolutely garbage KYC/age verification laws are becoming more and more frequent.
Proton VPN saw a 1800% spike in downloads in the last month alone

wondering if this might be the new most profitable meta for the next 3 years along with AI ofc

Yea The 1,800% Proton VPN spike shows VPNs could be a profitable sector. Cybersec is a very untapped sector in general. Not a ton of competition but the problem is these jobs are not open for freshers and are highly specialized. You need a lot of experience in the IT field for your application to even be considered.

Also cybersec roles are fewer. They dont go on massive hiring drives to hire them. These are lean highly skilled teams that hire a handful of cybersec experts with 10+ years of experience but they pay them very well. 300k+ is common.

Proton VPN isn't publicly listed so you can't buy their stock. They're run by Proton AG a private Swiss company thi is a non-profit No connection to that Malaysian car company either that's a myth. Investing in them directly is tough unless you're a big shot accredited investor with millions to spare like @got.daim and have access on platforms like EquityZen where you might snag some pre IPO shares but it's rare. You could bet on public cybersecurity giants like Palo Alto (PANW) or Zscaler (ZS) that are on NASDAQ they do VPNs but aren't pure plays.

But if you are talking about investments then I am not sure. VPNs look hot with that 1,800% Proton spike and OSA driving demand but the market's packed with 100+ players and governments could clamp down hard like China does. Profits might get squeezed and Al's got way more juice-trillions vs. VPNs' billions. You could still make money betting on big names like Nord or Proton but it's riskier than it seems.

You ideally need a VPNs based in shitholes for the most privacy like Mullvad that doesnt keep logs. So the governments cant have the VPN provider cough up data about you with their laws and regulations.

I dont know. You can chatgpt this stuff. As long as VPN had strict no log policy and is based in some shithole country like Bulgaria, British Virgin Islands or something you'll be fine.

Tbh I wouldnt get into private equity stuff like this unless your net worth is over 9 figures or something. If you are okay with losing like 10 million dollars and shrug it offonly then go into pre ipos of this scale. These things are for the ultra rich. @Chadeep
