Despite being one of the smartest men ever, and single handedly advancing both mathematics and physics while refusing to publish anything at first because he thought he had no equals, he never married, never had children, never even had a relationship and most likely died a virgin at old age. The only reason he even published his finding is because he heard that a team was about to invent calculus after him and wanted to spite them.
EVEN MORE BASED, his quote about standing on shoulders of giants was not positive. It was written to a rival who was short and slightly deformed as an insult. He later destroyed his only portrait so we don’t even know what Robert Hooke actually looked like.
