Netanyahu is trying to escalate with Lebanon and Iran to get the focus out of Gaza and make the US join but without success lately because the tactic of the pro palestinian side is a low-mid intensity war to destroy Israel public perception and economy, and to make them so tired of war that they will reject zionism and accept a Palestinian state.

So i would not be surprised if Netanyahu does it as an ultimate desperate measure and touches Al Aqsa. If Iran goes to war then it is expected for Russia to inevitably join also somehow, even indirectly.
