Back in high school when I had to choose between German and Spanish, I checked them both out for a couple days and never looked back at German... seemed too unnecessarily difficult. After 2 years, would you say learning it is/was complicated or does it get easier?

Germancels tell me I almost write like a native its just my speaking that has a foreign slang which is to be expected because i never lived in germany I would say I am around b2 level. Fluent enough to hold long conersations give speeches, reading the newspaper what I still struggle with is little grammar mistakes, spellings idioms and Dense academic texts or very formal Legal language

a1 and a2 is easy just learn the verb conjugations, dativ cases prepositions and you are good but the difficulty climbs steeply after a2 to b1.

as a part of my course we all had to mandatorily learn 1 foreign language of pur choice so i picked german purely because of my curiosity for the language so I did german 1 for the credits but continued with it to do german-2 in the semester after that also if I am learing a new language might as well learn it properly and make it a life skill

I think to get to c1 level german I would have to move to Germany or atleast move to a place with a lot of german speakers. There's the infamous intermediate plateau that you run into it progress feels painfully slow after B2 because passive knowledge what you understand outpaces active use what you produce naturally. You need to handle implicit meaning subtle sarcasm, complex arguments in long texts, speeches, specialized vocabulary, idiomatic expressions. You also require a good deal of cultural immersion to get the hang of a lot of the stuff. It's like this glass ceiling

I want to learn German as well to go work in Switzerland/Germany in the future do you have any tips
Master the verb conjugations of as many verbs as possible irregular aswell. Learn all the dative, akkusativ all those forms and try to actually speak German and consume german media and by german media I mean news, talk show , high budget movies because German language that german zoomers speak irl is basterdized regular Turkish and arab word usage so that might confuse so stick to high level sources @HighLtn

How long would it take to reach B2 if im doing 1 hour a day? I think consuming media would be the easier part since that's how I learned english/french but are you sure it has to be the news? I don't want to be fed too much goyslop
I'm familiar with arab words since that happened to french as well

I would say around 16-20 months of consistent effort. Doesn't have to be news. Podcasts are also fine. I mainly suggested you news because german language changes considerably depending on dialect like even germancels themselves can't understand certain dialects for example Austrian german without subtitles sounds like another language all together. Same was swiss german. Berliners also speak with a weird accent and dialect. News, podcasts, and professionally produced content stick close to Hochdeutsch which is what you should learn and gives you a stable reference. Once that is solid you can consume regular stuff that zoomers speak.
