Is it unethical to kick a kitten to death? The answer is no actually.
We can demonstrate this from two things.

1. There is a large consensus that value of an organism should not be based on superficial characteristics.

Elaboration:
Yes lookism exists but we largely acknowledge it to be a bad thing, if you were to ask someone if a ugly man is as valuable as a male model pretty much 100% of people would say yes.

2. Most people are not vegan

Elaboration:
not really much to say on this point.

The reason most people would give for kicking a kitten to death being wrong would be the fact that it is a cruel action. But far greater amounts of animal cruelty is experienced on farms(animals having their throats slit, being packed in overcrowded barns wallowing in their feces, being forcibly impregnated so humans can harvest their milk). That is just the tip of the iceberg btw.

Now you cant say that its wrong because kittens are cute because we have already established that the value of an organism is not based on looks.

The final objection could be that we do these for some goal(to harvest milk, meat etc). But we are perfectly capable of living without these things, the only reason you choose not to is the fact life is more pleasurable with these things.

So if pleasure is enough justification than the pleasure one might get from kicking a kitten to death is also enough justification.

Conclusion:
fuck these little shits

Yeah, I actually agree

People pretend to be moral while supporting far worse things daily

just because it’s hidden behind tradition or convenience

What if I'm a moral emotivist?
There are many ways you could get around the issue im presenting, divine command theory for example or what you mentioned

The post is just a criticism of the social consensus around ethics

We reach the conclusion that the vast majority of people are evil according to their own view on morality, also it shows how contradictory the way most people think about morals are

this shows there is a problem with either morals(as commonly conceived) or with people in general.

I find the way most people think about ethics as completely absurd.

Peter Singer published a paper on this thread topic and its stuck with me ever since
