Italian food is basically 90% carbs—pasta, pizza, bread, risotto. It’s not nearly as varied or nutritionally balanced as people make it out to be. The way it’s marketed as some kind of holy grail of cuisine is honestly laughable

Most Italian dishes are peasant food that got romanticised—stuff like spaghetti with tomato sauce or margherita pizza is dirt cheap to make, yet tourists pay a premium just because it's "authentic." Even their meats are nothing special—just some cured ham or basic grilled stuff. Where’s the complexity?

Italy just gets away with the hype because of its PR and branding—but take that away, and it’s really just overpriced carb-loaded slop

Italian food isnt just pasta and pizza those are just the most popular dishes. thats like saying indian food is just butter chicken and naan.

Italian food is extremely varied. there are twenty regions in italy and each region has like 50 subsects of cuisine and thats not even mentioning cheeses and wine. i think you just dont know any italian food other than pizza and pasta lol.

Also hamburgers are American. that's like saying tikka masala is Indian it was a dish that was origionally created in Germany but was turned into its modern version by a different culture just because Germans invented ground beef formed into a patty doesn't mean they invented McDonalds.

also again just because Italian food has a lot of carb focused dishes doesn't mean its bad. most cultures have carb based dishes ie Africa with jolof rice, Germany with German bread and schnitzel i dare you to find one culture or nation that's most popular dish doesn't involve some form of carbohydrate.

Using the word tasty already shows how much superficiality there is behind those who gorge themselves on food saying they do it for pleasure

If you have tasted quality Italian food and didn't like it, fine, to say that Italian food is better abroad is a stretch.

Ik some people on here that non ironically say eating rice and shit looking spicies with their bare hands is 10 times better than italian food because they go to olive garden or some shithole. I went for just a plate of pasta and tomato sauce in france ONCE and that was shit, they cant even make pasta right
