Ur recovery will take much longer, up to a year
Swelling, healing and numbness yes, but he should be able to return relatively normal activities and start eating soft food by 4-6 weeks.

I also heard that most of the swelling goes away towards the beginning of recovery, but I'm not sure if this is true.

I do a martial art and it’s amazing. You don’t have to fight, just doing it for confidence is good enough. I plan on doing a fight one day though.

yea i did muay thai for a while but i want to do wrestling or bjj for ultimate ground fighting skills.

Do you have combat background before wanting to go to mma? If not, I can almost guarantee you're not gonna make it. Do some boxing, wrestling or something for a couple years, get atleast a medal at national championships and then head to mma.

Not doing MMA. Just said it as a broad term.
