Yeah the whole "smart people don't know if they are smart!" shit is so retarded. Some say it has statistical truth but according to who? I wouldn't say like 110 iq is particularly profound, yet thats considered intellegent in the studies. Obviously they are not gonna be the smartest in the room usually, so they may be unsure wheather they are smart or not. Every actual smart person I've met irl has known they are smart.
